Quality is worth it
The quality of pillows and duvets play an important role in ensuring a restful and healthy sleep and thus a person’s well-being. With the “Swiss Guaranty VSB” seal of quality, you can expect transparency and reliability when selecting and purchasing bedding.
Bedding quality and healthy sleep
The quality of a duvet is determined by the percentage of down as well as the size and therefore the filling strength of the down. With the same cluster size, there is no difference in quality between goose and duck down. Due to its nature, European down is usually slightly larger than Asian down, and large cluster down insulates and provides better air conditioning than small cluster down. Accordingly, it is more expensive, but also offers better sleeping comfort and has a longer lifespan.
Feathers are used for pillows thanks to the resilience of their quills. Goose feathers are suitable for harder pillows, duck feathers or a combination of goose and duck feathers are suitable for softer pillows. For a good, healthy sleep, it is important that there is a soft resting place for the head, but also that it is optimally supported so that the cervical spine can relax.
With bedding that has been awarded the “Swiss Guaranty VSB” seal of quality, you receive the best quality according to clearly defined, transparent criteria.
What is the difference between down and feathers?
Down looks like fine snow crystals and ensures optimum heat and moisture balance in duvets (for a balanced sleeping environment). They are pleasantly light and extremely resilient.
Unlike down, feathers have an elongated and curved quill. This gives the feathers a certain stability, but thanks to their huge elasticity it is also responsible for its “springy” effect. They are therefore ideal as filling material for pillows, where they comfortably support the head but also provide the desired stability for the neck.
Down and feathers for the best sleep quality
Natural down and feathers are among the best and most popular filling materials for bedding. This is not surprising. No better air conditioning system has yet been invented than the fine structures of down and feathers with their millions of air chambers.
The duvet with natural down absorbs the body moisture that is released while you sleep (up to half a litre of liquid) and releases it again when you air it out in the morning. And it constantly maintains the warmth in the bed without the heat building up. This is necessary because the body temperature drops by around half a degree during sleep.
